1. India Inc expects faster economic recovery post second Covid wave

India's top corporate bosses expect a faster economic recovery after the ferocious second Covid wave that killed over 2,50,000 people in the country since the start of March this year, showed a survey of more than 100 top CEOs conducted by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

2. Rajnikanth clears air, no plans to enter politics, dissolves Makkal Mandram

Putting an end to the indecisiveness over his taking plunge into politics, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth has made it clear on Monday that he would not enter politics, further went on to dissolve his outfit Rajini Makkal Mandram. The actor met the functionaries of Rajini Makkal Mandram today, and said, "I have no intention of taking the political plunge."

3. SC to hear next week plea for probe into 'Islamophobic posts' on Twitter after Tablighi Jamaat congregation

The Supreme Court Monday asked a petitioner to peruse new IT rules and said it may hear next week his plea seeking a probe either by CBI or NIA against Twitter and its users for allegedly posting Islamophobic posts after Tablighi Jamaat congregation at Nizamuddin last year which was purportedly dubbed as one of the reasons for spread of COVID-19.

4. 'We are in process to setup small finance bank which will take over PMC Bank', says RBI in Delhi HC

The Reserve Bank of India on Monday said it has given "in-principle" approval to one Centrum Financial Services Ltd (CFSL) to set up a small finance bank (SFB), which will take over the beleaguered Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative Bank (PMC Bank) very soon.  

5. Adani Group crossed USD 100 billion in first week of FY22 in market capitalisation: Chairman

In the first week of Financial Year (FY) 2021-2022, Adani Group crossed USD 100 billion in market capitalization, said Chairman Gautam Adani on Monday. Virtually addressing the firm's shareholders at Annual General Meeting 2021, he noted that this 'milestone' is a first for a first-generation Indian company.

1. Lightning strikes kill 61 across Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh

At least sixty one people were killed after being struck by lightning strike in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. Many people were also reported to be injured in lightning strikes.

2. COVID-19: India logs 37,154 fresh cases, 724 deaths in 24 hrs

India reported 37,154 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the data updated by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry at 8 am on Monday showed.

3. Virgin Galactic's flight opens a new door to space for all

Sir Richard Branson, on Sunday, along with a full crew comprising of two pilots - Dave Mackay and Michael Masucci, three mission specialists - Sirisha Bandla, Colin Bennett and Beth Moses flew to the outer edge of space onboard Virgin Galactic's VSS Unity, opening up the doors for space tourism. Branson (70) also officially became the first billionaire to fly into space that too in his own winged rocket ship

4. Supreme head of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church of India passes away

The supreme head of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church of India, Baselios Marthoma Paulose II, passed away in the early hours of Monday, a church spokesman said here. He was 74.

5. Biden backs Trump rejection of China's South China Sea claim

The Biden administration on Sunday upheld a Trump-era rejection of nearly all of China's significant maritime claims in the South China Sea. The administration also warned China that any attack on the Philippines in the flashpoint region would draw a US response under a mutual defense treaty.

1. Lightning kills 20 in Rajasthan; 8 children among dead

At least twenty people including eight children were killed in separate incidents of lightning in Rajasthan's Jaipur, Dholpur, Kota, Chaksu and Jhalawar on Sunday. Many people were also reported to be injured in lightning strikes.

2. Devotee-less Rath Yatra begins in Odisha's Puri

The annual Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra has begun in Odisha's Puri. However, in the wake of COVID-19, devotees are not allowed to participate in the festival. Rath Yatra is being held in Puri without devotees for the second year in a row.

3. Suspended over 22,500 accounts: Twitter in 1st compliance report

Micro-blogging platform Twitter filed its first grievance redressal report as required under India's new IT norms, wherein the company said that it has suspended 22,564 accounts for "child sexual exploitation and non-consensual nudity" and "promotion of terrorism".

4. Italy wins Euro 2020, beats England in penalty shootout

Italian soccer's redemption story is complete. England's painful half-century wait for a major title goes on. And it just had to be because of a penalty shootout. Italy won the European Championship for the second time by beating England 3-2 on penalties on Sunday.  

5. Pfizer to discuss vaccine booster with US officials Monday

Pfizer says it plans to meet with top U.S. health officials Monday to discuss the drugmaker’s request for federal authorization of a third dose of its COVID-19 vaccine as President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser acknowledged that “it is entirely conceivable, maybe likely” that booster shots will be needed.
