There has been no attempt by the Indian or the Chinese side to occupy the areas in eastern Ladakh from where they disengaged in February and both sides are engaged in talks to resolve the remaining issues in the region, the Army said on Wednesday.

Indian Navy warship INS Tarkash on Wednesday undertook a drill with its Marine Commandos to ensure safe passage of India's merchant vessels passing through the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman under Operation Sankalp.  

5. Despite army rebuttal, Rahul Gandhi tweets media report claiming another Galwan like clash

Despite the Indian Army's rebuttal, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday raked up media reports, which suggest that India and China have clashed once again in the Galwan valley like the violent face-off that took place at the same place on June 15 last year, in which 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives.

1. J-K: 3 militants killed in Pulwama encounter

Three unidentified militants were killed in an encounter between security personnel and militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Wednesday, the police said. The police also recovered arms and ammunition from the encounter site.

2. Union Cabinet to meet physically after more than a year

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a Union Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, its first physical meeting in over a year. The Union Cabinet will meet at 11 am on Wednesday. Sources said the last Cabinet meeting held physically was in the first week of April last year, when the coronavirus pandemic struck the country.

3. National para-athlete facing financial crisis seeks government help

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday said that 11 billion doses are needed to vaccinate 70 per cent of the world to end the Covid-19 pandemic.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has accepted the resignation of Henrietta Fore as executive director of UNICEF with deep regret, praising her “inspiring leadership” as head of the U.N. children’s agency.
