Engg student creates 'Smart Mirror' in Odisha, works like Alexa

Swadhin Das, an Engineering student of BOSE in Cuttack, has created a smart mirror that can operate electric bulbs, fans, air conditioners and other electronic devices in a room. The smart mirror takes voice command, plays music, reads news, gives weather updates and has many more features like Alexa.

Cuttack (Odisha): Swadhin Das, an Engineering student of Bhubanananda Odisha School of Engineering (BOSE) in Cuttack, has created a smart mirror that can operate electric bulbs, fans, air conditioners and other electronic devices in a room. The smart mirror takes voice command, plays music, reads news, gives weather updates and has many more features like Alexa. It took around four months to make the smart mirror as raw materials were not available due to the pandemic.

Swadhin said the smart mirror is made up of a 2-way mirror with hardware technology including an LED monitor, Raspberry Pi and AI device. It cost me around Rs 20,000 and the technology can help elderly and differently-abled people to operate devices at their homes remotely, without moving from the bed.
