Srinagar (J&K): Three militants were neutralised on Tuesday in an encounter at Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district. The encounter between militants and security personnel broke out in the early hours and has concluded, the J&K Police said. Meanwhile, train services from Srinagar to Baramulla have been suspended following the gun battle. Mobile internet services have also been suspended as a precautionary measure in the area.
"Three militants have been killed during the gunfight. The gunfight is now and sanitisation of the area is underway, a J&K official said, adding that incriminating materials including arms & ammunition have been recovered by the armed forces.

Earlier, a senior police official had said, "A joint team of Police, Army's 52 RR and CRPF 177,179 and 92 cordoned off the village following inputs about the presence of militants in the area. As the forces approached the suspected spot, the militants fired at the security forces in retaliation, triggering a gunfight."
As soon as the militants opened fire at the security forces in the wee hours of Tuesday, the search operation turned into an encounter, police said, adding that no reports of any casualties on either side have been reported.
