Anantnag: A hybrid militant was killed in an encounter that broke out between security forces and militants at Chaki Dudoo village of south Kashmir on the intervening night of November 19 and 20. Officials said that the joint team of police, Army and CRPF launched a search operation in the area after receiving information about the presence of militants. The ‘hybrid militant’ identified as Sajad Tantray of Kulgam was taken for identification of a hideout in Bijbehara when militants opened fire, triggering an encounter.
The Kashmir Zone Police has confirmed through its Twitter handle that when the search party reached the suspect's hideout, the militants opened fire in which Lashkar-e-Taiba hybrid militant Sajjad Tantray, a resident of Kulgam district, was killed. According to the police, they had taken Tantray to identify the hide-out spot of other militants. He was rushed to Bijbahara where doctors declared him brought dead.

According to the police, Tantray, who was earlier a terrorist associate of LeT and released from PSA, was involved in the attack on two outside labourers on November 13 at Rakhmomen, Bijbehara in Anantnag in which two labourers got seriously injured. Later on, labourer Chota Prasad succumbed to injuries on November 18 while undergoing treatment. During the investigation, the Weapon of offence (Pistol) and the vehicle used in terror crime were also recovered followed by vigorous investigation to arrest more terror associates of this module.
