Thane (Maharashtra): Police on Saturday arrested eight people for allegedly thrashing a woman and her two male friends, allegedly at the behest of an autorickshaw driver who tried to molest her in Thane, Mumbai. The incident took place on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday in Thane district's Kalyan area.
The woman was returning home in an auto-rickshaw from Ulhasnagar after celebrating her friend's birthday when the auto driver allegedly began eve-teasing her. Frightened, the woman called two of her friends for help who rushed to the spot.

However, it is alleged that the driver started beating the three in the middle of the road. Later, several people gathered and joined the auto driver in beating up the woman and her friends.
A video of the incident has gone viral in which the mob can be seen beating the trio with belts and pulling the woman by her hair. An FIR under various sections has also been filed in this regard.
