Agartala: Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar on Saturday said many BJP ministers and MLAs are in talks with her party as they were feeling neglected and sidelined in the saffron camp. Her statement comes amid speculations running thick and fast that the dissenters of the BJP are set to join the TMC.

Political analysts believe Tripura is Trinamool’s soft target due to its dominant Bengali population and of course Mamata Banerjee’s clout. “Many BJP leaders, MLAs and even ministers are in talks with the TMC. They are neglected in the party and mostly unhappy with the party’s activities in the state. They have told us that they did not want to see a change like this where opposition parties come under attack, people feel frightened to venture out and fires are set in open city roads”, said the MP.

Briefing the media on the sidelines of a women wing’s meeting at a private hotel here, she said, “many people who have been associated with the RSS for long are deserting the BJP. They don’t want to be part of a ruling party that encourages hooliganism as a political culture. We want to build a strong public opinion among women about the injustice being meted out by the ruling dispensation and motivate more people to support the ideology of Mamata Banerjee that stands for the interest of people.”
