Digvijay Singh critiques EVM integrity after Pegasus row

In a scornful remark against the Bharatiya Janata Party, veteran Congress leader Digvijay Singh has come to the fore critiquing the authenticity of the 2014,2019 Lok Sabha poll results. Reiterating the allegations reportedly made in 2019, Singh said EVMs were utilized in winning both 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The leading opposition party also accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of "treason", demanding Union Home Minister Amit Shah's resignation, the spyware row has heated Indian politics.

In a scornful remark against the Bharatiya Janata Party, veteran Congress leader Digvijay Singh has come to the fore critiquing the authenticity of 2014, 2019 Lok Sabha poll results. Reiterating the allegations reportedly made in 2019, Singh said EVMs were utilized in winning both 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. "The present government tells a lot of lies. How many fake promises they have made?" said Singh.

Electronic Voting Machines have always been a bone of contention between ruling and Opposition parties. Reports said, a high-level Opposition delegation had met the Election Commission of India raising concerns over alleged EVM tampering in Lok Sabha elections 2019.

Later, the ECI rubbished reports of tampering stating that all machines and voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) machines were properly sealed and stored in guarded strong rooms, reports said.

The 2019 Lok Sabha election was the first one with EVM completely backed by VVPAT. As per Supreme Court order, ahead of result declaration on May 23, physical verification of VVPAT slips with the EVM count was done across over 20,000 polling stations, as per reports.
