New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his surprise visit to the construction site of the new parliamentary building on Sunday instructed to set up a digital archive for all construction workers engaged at the site. The digital archive should reflect their personal details including their name, the name of the place they belong to, their picture, and should recognize their contribution to the construction work. Further, all workers should also be given a certificate about their role and participation in this endeavour, he proposed.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had conducted an on-site inspection and reviewed the ongoing construction work of the new Parliament building on 26 September 2021.
Prime Minister ascertained the progress of the work being carried out at the site and laid emphasis on timely completion of the project. He interacted with the workers engaged at the site and also enquired about their well-being. He stressed that they are engaged in historic work.
Prime Minister instructed that it must be ensured that all the workers engaged at the site are fully vaccinated against Covid. He further asked officials to conduct monthly health check-ups of all workers.
The surprise inspection by the Prime Minister was done with minimal security detail. He spent over an hour at the site.
On February 4 this year, the Bhoomi Poojan ceremony of Central Vista Avenue was performed by then Union Minister of State with Independent charge Hardeep S Puri and other senior officers of the Ministry at India Gate, New Delhi. With this ceremony, the work started for the development/ Redevelopment of Central Vista Avenue.
The Central Vista Avenue starts from the North and South Block to India Gate. It includes the Rajpath, its adjoining lawns and canals, rows of trees, Vijay Chowk and the India Gate plaza that is a 3 kilometres long stretch. This was originally designed to be a grand processional pathway to the Viceroy's House during the British Raj. It was appropriated by the people of India and their government at Independence.
The Government approved a proposal for the development of Central Vista Avenue with an estimated cost of Rs 608 crores on November 10, 2020. Requisite permissions from Delhi Urban Arts Commission, Heritage Conservation Committee, Central Vista Committee, Local Body etc. have been obtained.
