New Delhi: Delhi Police Special Cell on Thursday apprehended wrestler Sushil Kumar's aide Rahul Dhandha in connection with the murder of Sagar Dhankar that took place on May 4 outside the Chhatrasal Stadium. Rahul who is a close aide of Kumar and also an accused in the case was arrested by the Special Cell on Thursday.
A reward of Rs50,000 was also announced by the Delhi Police to those who could provide information on Rahul's whereabouts. According to sources, he was also associated with the gang of notorious gangster Sonu Dariyapur.

Olympic medallist wrestler Sushil Kumar and 12 others had allegedly assaulted Dhankar and his friend at the stadium on the intervening night of May 4 and 5 over an alleged property dispute. Sagar later had succumbed to his injuries.
Apart from the Crime Branch, the Special Cell which was searching for the absconding accused got information that he would come to meet some of his friends near Bawana-Kanjhawala road. Based on the inputs, police had set up a trap. Rahul on seeing the police team in a bid to evade tried to shoot at the police team.
However, the police team caught him and registered an Arms Act case against him. Later, the accused was handed over to the Crime Branch by the Special Cell.

On August 3, the Delhi Police had filed a charge sheet in the murder case, in which it named the Olympic wrestler as the main accused. In this case, more than 10 accused, including Sushil have been arrested. At present, all the accused including Sushil are in jail.
The charge sheet also mentions the names of 155 prosecution witnesses, including four persons who were injured during the brawl. The Delhi Police had filed an FIR against the accused of offences such as murder, attempt to murder, culpable homicide, criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, robbery, rioting among others.
