New Delhi: Soon after the Supreme Court gave dispensation control to the AAP over the transfer and posting of officers in Delhi, the state government removed IAS Ashish More, Secretary of Services Department from his post. More has been replaced by 1995-batch-IAS AK Singh, officials said. An order in this regard was issued today.

Following the apex court's verdict, the services department, which was under the Lieutenant Governor, is now under the jurisdiction of the Delhi government. In a press conference, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said that more bureaucrats may be reshuffled and announced creating more posts. "We will vacate the posts that are not needed and officers holding those posts would be removed," he said.

Alleging that some officers were restricting work, Kejriwal warned of action against such officers. He said that officers who are efficient and honest would get the chance to work in the administration. He said that the entire system has been affected and it would be replaced by one that is responsible as well as accountable to the common people. It may be mentioned here that the AAP government had held senior bureaucrats responsible for obstructing work.

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court issued its verdict on the ongoing tussle between the Central Government and the Delhi Government over the transfer and posting of officers. The court observed that only the elected government is accountable to the people. It directed that except for matters relating to public order, the Delhi government has legislative and executive powers over the administration of services. Following this, the Delhi government has been given the authority over the transfer, posting, and appointment of officers and employees posted in Delhi.
