Dholpur: Three people were arrested following the Bomb scare in Chennai bound Garib Rath Express at Dholpur railway station that sent the district administration and police officials in a tizzy. The incident happened in the wee hours of Monday when the train was approaching the Dholpur railway station.
The train that originated from New Delhi was on its way to Chennai station via Dholpur. The Commotion prevailed in the wagons after the 'news' of the bomb scare onboard the train spread. Passengers were a harried lot when the train was detained at Dholpur railway station for at least three hours to conduct an extensive search.
ADM Sudarshan Singh Tomar, and City Circle Officer (CO) Suresh Sankhala took stock of the situation from the spot. Local police along with Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel conducted a thorough search of the train compartments.
Dogs and bomb defusal and disposal squads were pressed into service from Morena in Madhya Pradesh. The entire train was frisked by the squads before concluding the call as a hoax. The clearance for the departure was accorded and the entire frisking ordeal took more than three hours.
Sources said the police were informed that a bomb has been planed in the G-2 coach of the train. Police have arrested a suspect and his two friends for the hoax bomb threats. The police said they were probing the suspects on as to why they raised such a false alarm. Police were tightlipped about the identities of the detained. "We have registered a case and are investigating. We will share further details once the investigation is complete," a police official said.
