Yadagiri: Fifty-six students of a boarding school in Yadagiri district in Karnataka fell sick after consuming breakfast containing snakelets. The incident took place in Vishwarashya Vidyavardhaka boarding school located in Abbethumakur village of Yadagiri Taluku of Yadagiri district.
After having 'Upma', a dish made of thick porridge from dry roasted semolina or coarse rice flour, which is very popular in the southern parts of the country. In a shocking incident, a few students found dead snakelets (baby snakes) in Upma. By the time the incident was discovered most of the students' has started eating food. These students have been rushed to Mudnala Primary Health Care Center.
Later they were shifted to Yadagiri District Hospital for further treatment. Local MLA Venkatareddy Mudnala and Yadagiri SP Dr.Vendamoorthy visited the district hospital and inquired about the students' health.
