Chitrakoot (Uttar Pradesh): Dacoit Gauri Yadav with a bounty of Rs 5.5 lakh on his head was shot dead by the Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (STF) in an encounter in Chitrakoot on Saturday morning.
SP Hemraj Meena, heading the STF team confirmed the news, adding that the encounter had taken place between 3:30 and 4:00 AM at Madha region in Bahilpurwa Police Station zone of the district.

According to reports, several rounds of ammunition were fired in the encounter between both sides following which the dacoit was killed by the police.
One AK-47, a semi-automatic rifle and one twelve bore gun (all factory-made), and two country-made weapons along with hundreds of live and spent ammunition have been recovered from the encounter site.
Earlier, on March 31, STF had also killed Bhalchand, who had a bounty of Rs 25,000 on his head, in an encounter near Madhav Dam.
