New Delhi: The crescent of Dhul Hijjah (Arabic Month) has been sighted in India. Various Ruyat-e-Hilal Committees (crescent sighting committees) of the country have confirmed the sighting of the Hijjah crescent.
According to the Deccan Ruyat-e-Hilal Committee, the first Dhul-Hajj will be on July 12, while Eid-ul-Adha (Bakra Eid) will be celebrated on July 21.
Syed Shaban Bukhari, Deputy Shahi Imam of Shahjahani Jama Masjid Delhi, announced the sighting of the crescent of Dhul Hijjah. "It was decided in the meeting of the Central Ruyat-e-Hilal Committee of Jama Masjid that 1st Dhul-Hijjah is tomorrow 12th July 2021, and Eid-ul-Adha prayers will be offered on 21st July 2021," he said.
Dr Mufti Mukarram Ahmed, the Shahi Imam of Fatehpuri Mosque in the national capital also announced the sighting of the Eid-ul-Adha moon.
Eid al-Adha or the Bakra Eid is celebrated on the tenth day of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah.
