Agartala (Tripura): Sushil Das, a Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader's house was ransacked for distributing Covid relief packages among the needy, allegedly by a group of miscreants on Saturday night.
Das said Sangita, Sushil's daughter-in-law, was physically assaulted and manhandled at her residence in East Aralia area, located in the outskirts of Agartala city.

Das said his initiative drew flak from the BJP supporters. Late at night, a group of 10 to 20 people, led by local leaders Rakesh Ghosh and Babul Ghosh, barged into his residence and created a ruckus. They first spotted his daughter-in-law and assaulted her.
"It was a clear case of outraging the modesty of a woman. If my deeds irked them, they should have attacked me. It cannot be tolerated anymore. I will soon file a complaint against the miscreants at the local police station," Das said.
Sangita sustained injuries in her hands and chest. Her bangles were broken as miscreants attempted to drag her out of the house, Das said. She was admitted to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Agartala.
