New Delhi: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court on Wednesday against the notification of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for conducting examinations from July 6 at a time when people are still reeling under the Covid crisis and the situation has not yet normalised.

The plea filed by Advocate Anubha Srivastava Sahai contends that adhering to Covid-19 guidelines would not be possible and vaccination will also take some more time so the students should be given an option to 'opt-out' before the exams or during it and be given an extra chance. Further, the plea seeks to increase the number of examination centres, to at least one centre in each district and conduct the exam in a staggered manner.

The petitioner prays that after increasing the centres, ICAI should give fresh chance to the students to chose their centres and change it from earlier selected ones if they want to. With the Covid-19 situation still on the rage, many pleas have been filed in the top court against conducting exams.
