Court allows custody of beauty parlour firing case accused Ravi Pujari to Crime Branch team

Ravi Pujari, the Kochi Beauty Parlour firing case mastermind, has been sent to Crime Branch custody. The incident took place on December 15, 2019, where two men opened fire in the parlour which was owned by actress Leena Maria Paul.

Ernakulam: Ravi Pujari, the main accused in the Kochi Beauty Parlour firing case, has been sent to the Crime Branch custody on Monday. The Ernakulam Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court has sent him into custody till June 8, for further interrogation in the matter.

Gangster Ravi Pujari, who was arrested in connection with the firing case, was booked by the Karnataka police three months ago and has been in jail ever since then.

Pujari, who was earlier in the Mumbai police custody, will now be brought to Kochi, after his custody period under the Mumbai police got over. The Crime Branch moved a custody request with the ACJM Court, Ernakulam. The Crime Branch investigation team will go to the Parappana Agrahara Jail on June 1, to take Ravi Pujari's custody.

The Crime Branch will take Pujari to the crime spot to collect case-related evidence.

Two bike-borne men reached the beauty parlour owned by actress Leena Maria Paul in Kadavanthara, Ernakulam, and opened fire, on December 15, 2019.

Both the accused, Vipin Varghese and Bilal, belonging to Ernakulam were later arrested in connection with the case. It was found that a gang from Kasaragod which had connections with Ravi Pujari had given a ‘quotation’ for the firing to the Ernakulam duo.

The Crime Branch during their investigation found out that the firing was carried out by the duo as directed by Pujari, the alleged mastermind of the case. A month before the incident, Ravi Pujari had sought Rs 25 crores from Leena over the phone.

Leena, the parlour owner, denied the money demanded by the kingpin Ravi Pujari, which later lead to Pujari giving the contract to the goons to threaten Leena and extort money.

No casualty was reported in the incident but there were some minor damages seen in the parlour.
