Patna: Tension arose between JDU-BJP over Arunachal Pradesh episode on the pretext of JDU struggling to save its image at the national level. The way JDU national general secretary KC Tyagi raised his objection to BJP proves that war between JDU and BJP will escalate in days to come.
The results of the Bihar assembly election has made things clear especially regarding the relation between JDU and BJP. Though Nitish Kumar was the face during the election but the recent development in state politics has defined that BJP is playing the role of big brother.
Sources in the JDU also said that it was the conspiracy of the BJP to ensure that less number of JDU MLAs reached the house in which they took the help of Chirag Paswan's LJP.
Though the leaders of both parties so far claimed that all is well, but, Arunachal Pradesh episode proved to be an eye-opener in which BJP poached six JDU MLA out of seven.
BJP tried their level best to douse the fire but it was too late and Tyagi did not hesitate to say that BJP was not following alliance dharma during two days national executive committee meeting of the JDU.
JDU's performance in the recently concluded Bihar assembly poll made the party disappointed. Party's performance made Nitish so fragile that he rejected the post of CM and he had personally accepted it on two occasions.
In the recent past, Nitish has said that he never wanted to become CM after looking at the mandate of people but it was BJP who requested him to accept it. Right from the beginning, the JDU looked at compromising situations and went through many ups and downs.
The present scenario clearly proves that JDU is in the role of small brother though Nitish is sitting on the top post of the state. When the small BJP leaders failed to convince JDU, the senior-most leader of BJP had to come forward to clear the air after JDU publicly expressed their anguish over the BJP.
Former deputy chief minister and present Rajya Sabha member Sushil Modi came forward for the damage control. “BJP-JDU alliance in Bihar is atoot (unbreakable) and I am sure that we will complete a full term under the leadership of Nitish Kumar,” Modi said on Monday at the sidelines of a function.
Nitish is the leader who will never compromise on his image and can go to any extent to ensure that nothing should dent his image. The differences between JDU and BJP was also seen during JDU's meet in which JDU slammed BJP over love-jihad laws. Tyagi openly took a jibe at BJP claiming that the love-jihad laws was an attempt to create the atmosphere of hatred.
Not only this - the halt on the expansion of the Bihar cabinet is also being attributed to BJP. Nitish had earlier stated that he was waiting for the proposal from BJP. JDU not getting a cabinet berth in the NDA government at the centre is also one of the reasons of bitter relation.
JDU leaders of Bihar have now started staring on its partner and not in the mood of tolerating any nuisance. Political expert Sanjay Kumar too opined that now onwards JDU will engage in aggressive politics. “The top leadership of the JDU has given a clear message not to bow down in front of anyone and get ready for the aggressive politics. I do not think that JDU will work under the pressure of BJP anymore and Nitish will try to run the government on his own terms and conditions. Nitish can never do politics under pressure and there is a cold war going on between both parties. The situation is really critical and future relations all depend on how the checks and balances are maintained. BJP does want to lose Nitish but at the same time the saffron party will not allow him to do politics on his terms, “Kumar asserted.
The announcement of JDU to contest election separately in other states also indicates that the relation with BJP will only be restricted in Bihar and many things will change in the state in days to come. Tyagi's statement regarding one should not measure Nitish's credit on the basis of the number of seats JDU has got, clearly indicates tug of war between JDU and saffron party.
