New Delhi: Amid the speculations of poll strategist Prashant Kishor's joining Congress and getting an extraordinary status, the party is getting divided on views, and therefore left the final call of Kishor's induction to party interim president Sonia Gandhi, sources informed. It is being reported that Kishor had a number of meetings with the Gandhis in the past few months to decide upon his role in the party.

Sources said that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have no issues with his induction as they have worked with him in the last Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh. However, many of the senior party leaders are against the idea of Prashant Kishor getting a key role in the party. Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi also held discussions with some leaders over this matter.

It is being informed that earlier this week, the G23 leaders, who had written a letter to Sonia Gandhi demanding an organizational overhaul, met at Kapil Sibal's residence on the occasion of Janmashtmi, where the majority of them expressed their dissent over Prashant Kishor's recruitment. Prashant Kishor has prepared a strategy for the revival of the Congress party ahead of the 2024 General Elections, which includes rallies, protests, opposition parties meetings and other ways.

While some leaders within Congress believe that he may help the party to get stronger on the ground, others believe that the party needs to communicate more with its own leaders. A party source said that in view of the UP Assembly polls results in 2017, where the Congress-Samajwadi Party alliance had failed miserably, party leaders are not ready to give another chance to Kishor.

However, the poll strategist has a stellar track record in the latest polls in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. Also, after the demise of Ahmed Patel, Sonia Gandhi is looking for some advisors who can help in the resurrection of the party.
