New Delhi: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has released a press release announcing the setting-up of a screening committee for the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election. Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi approved the appointments. The list includes Jitendra Singh (Chairman), Deepender Singh Hooda (MP), Varsha Gaikwad (MLA). The four ex-officio members are Priyanka Gandhi (AICC General Secretary), Ajay Kumar Lallu (PCC - President), Aradhana Mishra Mona (CLP Leader) and All AICC secretaries in-charge of Uttar Pradesh.
The Congress top leader has also approved the appointment of Ashok Singh as the Treasurer of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee.

Congress party general secretary and former Minister of State for Home Affairs, Jitendra Singh, has been given important responsibility. He is the chairman of the screening committee for the Uttar Pradesh elections. Jitendra Singh is considered one of the most trusted leaders of the Gandhi family. Jitendra Singh, the MP from Alwar in Rajasthan, played a major role in the Assam elections, as he was in-charge of the state. Before this, he has been continuously active in the national politics of Congress. The Uttar Pradesh elections are going to be very important for the Congress as Priyanka Gandhi herself is In-Charge of Uttar Pradesh.

For better distribution of tickets in Uttar Pradesh, the Gandhi family has entrusted the responsibility to Jitendra Singh, a trusted lieutenant for the Congress and the Gandhi family. While MP Deepender Singh Hooda and MLA Varsha Gaikwad have been made members. Dheeraj Gurjar and Zubair Khan have been included in this committee due to being the in-charge secretary of Uttar Pradesh.
