Bengaluru: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee led ‘Raj Bhavan Chalo,’ a protest march in Bengaluru in solidarity with the protesting farmers in Delhi.
The procession started from Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna railway station in the city and they headed to Freedom Park, passing through Majestic, Metro stop, Cotton Pete, Anand Rao Circle. As many flocked for the protest it resulted in a road blockade in the Majestic area. The Congress leaders wore a green shawl.
Senior Congress leaders are likely to submit a petition against the farm laws to Governor Vajubhai Vala after the protest.
Meanwhile, Karnataka BJP critiqued the Congress party's intentions stating that they are attempting to show their presence with the protest. Congress party is always against farmers and they are staging drama, as per BJP.
In addition, the BJP also alleged that the Congress party leaders are misleading the farmers by stating that the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) would shut down. Rahul Gandhi intends to mislead the citizens in the country with such statements, according to the BJP.
State Congress chief D K Shivakumar on Wednesday alleged that police obstruct farmers coming to Bengaluru to protest against the controversial farm laws.
“I got several phone calls that farmers coming to Bengaluru from other districts are being stopped by police and are not being allowed to enter Bengaluru. I urge farmers to stop wherever they are, block highways, roads and protest in support of farmers,” he said.
He added, “I know the BJP government is trying to stop farmers at any cost and is not letting them participate in the protest. I request protesters to come to Sangolli Rayanna statue and participate in the massive protest rally."
