Baramulla: Five people from Rajouri district were feared dead, one body was found in a cloud burst, reported in the hilly area of Rafiabad, Kafarnar Bahak, in the upper reaches of Baramulla district. Search for four others has been going on.
Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information. "As many as five Bakarwals who belong to Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir are missing in the incident," the authority said earlier.
Earlier, on July 30, more than 221 tourists were stranded in Udaipur sub division of Lahaul-Spiti district in Himachal Pradesh following a cloudburst.
Cloudburst leads to flood situations due to extreme amounts of precipitation in a short time. The natural phenomenon can dump a large amount of water and it is often mistaken with a large amount of runoff from higher elevations.
Rapid precipitation is usually the result of the mixing of warm air parcels with cooler air.
