Classical singer Pandit Rajan Mishra dies in St Stephen's Hospital, Delhi

Renowned Hindustani classical singer Pandit Rajan Mishra has died in St Stephen's Hospital in Delhi after suffering a heart attack. Awarded Padma Bhusan in 2007, the iconic classical singer was famous worldwide along with his brother Sajan Mishra. His demise is a huge loss to Hindustani classical music, especially the 'Banaras Gharana'.

Varanasi: Renowned Hindustani classical singer Pandit Rajan Mishra has died in St Stephen's Hospital in Delhi after suffering a heart attack. Awarded Padma Bhusan in 2007, the iconic classical singer was famous worldwide along with his brother Sajan Mishra. His demise is a huge loss to Hindustani classical music, especially the 'Banaras Gharana'.

ETV Bharat has a video of Pandit Rajan Mishra, in which he has appealed to the general public to follow Covid precautions, in a typical 'Banarasi style'. Unfortunately, he contracted the same infection and suffered a heart attack today.

Pandit Rajan Mishra has several accolades, including the Padma Bhusan and Sangeet Academy award. He has made a key contribution to 'Banaras Gharana' of Hindustani classical music. His native house in the famous Kabir Chowk of Varanasi is grief-stricken by his demise.

Amit Mishra, a relative of Pandit Rajan Mishra has confirmed the news of his demise. He has informed that the famed singer contracted the Covid infection and today, around afternoon suffered a heart attack, following which he was taken to St Stephen's Hospital. However, his condition deteriorated and he breathed his last in the evening.

Following his demise, tributes and condolences are pouring in on social media. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also condoled his demise on Twitter.
