New Delhi: Both the Central government and Bharatiya Janata Party are trying hard to convince the farmers on the issue of three farm laws and anti-farmers protests, said BJP Kisan Morcha president Rajkumar Chahar. In an exclusive conversation with ETV Bharat, Rajkumar Chahar said that the three agricultural bills are important for the farmers but few opposition parties are playing politics and deceiving the farmers against them. The opposition parties are also creating ruckus in Parliament which is unfair, he added.

"BJP Kishan Morcha is constantly making efforts to negotiate with the farmers. Farmers across the country are supporting these laws, but only a handful of them are under the influence of opposition parties. The government has also asked the farmers unions to prepare a draft highlighting the amendments in the laws but so far no one has approached the Centre as they could not find any flaw in them. In such a case, there is no chance of withdrawing the three farm laws," Chahar said.

On being asked about his view on the farmers' protest changing its focus and turning violent following the farmers' attack on media persons, he said, "January 26 violence near the Red Fort is unconstitutional. No movement should turn violent. Media is the fourth pillar of our democratic system and misbehaviour against media personnel will not be tolerated."

Replying to the query if the farmers' movement will continue till the 2022 Assembly elections, the Kisan Morcha president said that the BJP will contest polls according to its actions and policies.

"Some farmer leaders have also come under the influence of politicians. Be it Congress, Akali Dal or Samajwadi Party everyone is doing politics on the farmers' issues. The farmer leaders are being misled and trapped in politics. The Centre had held discussions with the farmers 11 times. If farmers are ready to talk further we do not have any problem," he said.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the farmers many times saying that the three farm laws are in their interest. The PM wants farmers to take the benefits of these laws. Even during the Covid lockdown, the Centre provided Kisan Card to farmers. Under Jan Dhan Yojana, money and the free ration was also arranged for them," Chahar said.

Talking about the MSP, he claimed that the opposition is creating confusion and instigating farmers by saying that the government wants a change in the MSP policy, on the contrary during the Covid crisis the MSP money was deposited in the accounts of the farmers. "If farmers are having any objection, then they should directly talk to the government," he added.
