New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday welcomed the composition of an impartial committee by the Supreme Court to resolve the deadlock between farmers and the government.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, BJP National Spokesperson Sudesh Verma said the party accepts the Supreme Court's verdict on the farm laws.
"The BJP has always respected the court and the party has faith in it," he said adding that the party now hopes that the protesting farmers will also understand this and go back to their homes.
He said the BJP-led government wants to be resolved quickly so that farmers don't have to suffer more.
"It is now up to farmers' organizations, how they see this decision of the Supreme Court and how they react to it. We accept the court's verdict and expect same from farmer leaders too," he added.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed the implementation of all three farm laws, passing orders on a batch of petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the laws.
Farmers have been demanding to repeal these laws while the government has held its ground arguing in favour of the legislation.
