New Delhi: Ever since the defeat of the Bharatiya Janta Party in West Bengal, the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has realised that if they have to win the 2024 national election, then they have to take necessary actions now. Since the beginning of 2021, the opposition parties are constantly attacking PM Modi's government on several issues. The Centre seems to be on the backfoot, be it the farmers' protest, handling of Covid-19 crisis, rising fuel prices, economic slowdown, defeat in Bengal elections, the defection of BJP leaders, etc.
However, Prime Minister Modi is now taking action, keeping in mind the upcoming Assembly elections in several states and the bigger picture of the 2024 national election. PM Modi has been reviewing the performance of his ministries along with Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda. There is strong speculation of a cabinet expansion given the upcoming elections in several states including Uttar Pradesh. The PM will personally review the performance and the party structure and leadership of all the BJP ruled states. He will also conduct a review of the non-BJP ruled states and will try to strengthen the party leadership.
