BJP will form govt in Bengal and Assam: BJP MP

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Rajya Sabha member Rakesh Sinha claimed that the party will form the government in West Bengal as well as in Assam with a thumping majority.

New Delhi: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Rajya Sabha member Rakesh Sinha claimed that the saffron party will form the government in West Bengal as well as in Assam.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Sinha said the BJP will get a thumping majority in West Bengal thus ending the era of the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool government.

"Mamata Banerjee is sure to lose from Nandigram constituency. She ruled like a dictator in Bengal and encouraged violence in politics. Her opponents continued to be murdered in the state," he claimed.

Sinha further claimed that anticipating the defeat, the TMC supremo went all out at the Nandigram constituency visiting as many as 18 temples within 24 hours on March 11.

She tried all kinds of tricks to win the elections but people of the state had long ago made up their minds to oust the TMC government, he added.

Notably, the first two phases of polling in the state saw a voter turn out of 79.9 and 80.43 per cent respectively.

The polling for 31 seats in the third phase will be held on April 6. Elections for 44 seats will be held in the fourth phase on April 10.

Further, in the fifth phase on April 17, 45 seats will go to the polls. The sixth phase is scheduled for April 22 when elections for 43 seats will be done.

In the seventh phase on April 26, polling will be held for 36 seats. Finally, the eighth phase is scheduled for April 29 when 35 seats will go for polling. The counting of votes will take place on May 2.
