Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): With eyes on upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections 2022, the Bharatiya Janata Paty has reeled out many policies to attract voters. However, in a freewheeling interview with ETV Bharat, on Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said that the BJP does not work only for elections, instead the development of the society is the key agenda of the party.
The party works with an aim to free the state from casteism, regionalism, nepotism, communalism, and separatism, which works as a poison for society. The party also aims to prioritize the development of the education and health sector.
Taking a jibe at former Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, he alleged meagre development was done in his reign. "At the time, when the BJP-led Yogi Adityanath government assumed responsibility, only four medical colleges were there in the state. But ever since the Yogi government came to power almost 30 medical colleges were established."
Sharma said, "During the tenure of Yogi government, five projects of expressways are at their final stage of completion. Metro railways have been operated in various cities. Every house of the state is facilitated with a water facility. Around 250 schools, 55 colleges, and 10 universities in Uttar Pradesh will soon be opened. Almost 1.61 lakh people have got direct or indirect employment in the state. The government has announced more than 4.5 lakhs job openings. "

Referring to Ayodhya issue, Sharma said, "A changed scenario can be witnessed now. The city is now evolving into an 'International City'."
"Prayagraj, Kashi, and Mathura cities are transformed because of the development. Various developmental projects are in progress in Lucknow and nearby districts as well. Many expressways are under construction," he added.
Retorting to an allegation of the opposition, that the Yogi government is taking forward the work of the foundation laid during the previous governments, Sharma said, "The opposition cannot even name these projects. Not even an inch of land was acquired for development during the previous regime."
Slamming the opposition over the issues of development, he said, "Why the opposition did not pay any attention to the health sector and sugar mills?" Sugar mills were sold during the previous tenure, while during the reign of Yogi government, 119 sugar mills are running in the state."
