New Delhi: With assembly elections scheduled to be held in five states – Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh – in the first half of next year, BJP president JP Nadda Wednesday announced the party in-charges for all these states.
Union Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan has been appointed in-charge of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. Union Minister Anurag Thakur, Ministers of State Arjun Ram Meghwal, Shobha Karandlaje and Annapurna Devi, Rajya Sabha MPs Saroj Pandey and Vivek Thakur and former Haryana minister Captain Abhimanyu have been made co-in-charges for Uttar Pradesh.
For Uttar Pradesh, the BJP has also appointed regional in-charges. While Lok Sabha MP Sanjay Bhatia will look after Western Uttar Pradesh, Bihar MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia has been made in-charge of Brij, BJP national secretary Y Satya Kumar of Awadh, party joint treasurer Sudhir Gupta of Kanpur, national secretary Arvind Menon of Gorakhpur, and co-in-charge of state party affairs Sunil Ojha of Kashi.

For the Punjab assembly elections, the BJP has appointed Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat as the party in-charge. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State Meenakshi Lekhi and Lok Sabha MP Vinod Chavda have been made co-in-charges for the state.
Union Minister for Labour, Employment, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupendra Yadav will be the BJP's in-charge for the Manipur assembly elections. Minister of State Pratima Bhoumik and Assam Minister Ashok Singhal have been made the co-in-charges.
For the Goa assembly elections, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has been appointed as the party in-charge while Union Minister G. Kisan Reddy and Minister of State Darshana Jardosh will be the co-in-charges.
Union Minister for Coal, Mines and Parliamentary affairs Prahlad Joshi has been named as the BJP's party in-charge for the Uttarakhand assembly elections. Lok Sabha MP Locket Chatterjee and party's national spokesperson Sardar RP Singh have been made the co-in-charges.
Except for Punjab which is ruled by the Congress, the BJP is in power in all the other four states. The 2022 assembly elections are being seen as the semifinals for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
