New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday stressed on the use of a bio-decomposer solution developed by the Pusa Institute of Technology as a solution to tackle stubble burning. It is known that stubble burning in neighbouring states has been a major factor behind the high level of air pollution in the national capital.
"Bio-decomposer has been proved effective in decomposing stubble. Farmers of Delhi are very happy. Neighbouring states must also adopt it. 90% of farmers said stubble decomposed in 15-20 days, wheat production rose by 8%, the content of carbon in the soil increased by 40%, nitrogen by 24%, bacteria increased by 7 times and fungus by 3 times. The sprouting of wheat also increased by 17-20 per cent," the Delhi CM tweeted, adding that the process has been described as effective in the audit.
In this regard, the Chief Minister will soon also meet the Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav. He also asked neighbouring states to distribute the bio-decomposer free of cost among farmers in order to stop them from burning stubble.

CM Kejriwal appealed to the Centre, saying that earlier there was no solution to stubble but now his government has found a solution. He added that the survey was carried out by a central government agency, WAPCOS, wherein encouraging results were obtained following the use of the bio-decomposer.
WAPCOS Ltd which was earlier known as Water and Power Consultancy Services Limited is an Indian multinational government undertaking and consultancy firm which is owned by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. It provides consultancy services in the fields of water resources, power and infrastructure.
