Kolkata: Jan Shakthi Morcha's leader Binoy Tamang said on Tuesday that his0 party's main goal is to maintain peace and a healthy environment in the hills.
Earlier today, Binoy Tamang held a press conference at Gorkha Bhavan in Salt Lake. There, he said, "the people of the hills do not want Bimal Gurung."
"They are not thinking about Bimal Gurung. Bimal Gurung is a political criminal. The administration should think about this issue. If Bimal Gurung goes to the hills, the hills will be turbulent," he said addressing the press conference.
"We have to look at Bimal Gurung's previous record in 2007. The government needs to look at his criminal record. Hills will be turbulent if Bimal Gurung comes back. Hill people don't want Bimal Gurung. We don't want to break trust with the chief minister," Tamang added.
Binoy Tamang's Jan Shakthi Morcha has been gradually raising its voice in the hills. Processions, meetings and agitations are going on across the hills to prevent the return of Bimal Gurung.
In the current situation, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will hold a meeting with Binoy Tamang, Anit Thapa and other hill leaders to discuss various issues related to hill politics.
It remains to be seen whether the meeting would be fruitful or not.
