New Delhi: Senior Janata Dal (United) leader Madhav Anand said that the Bihar government has managed to tackle the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic efficiently with an impressive recovery rate of over 90%.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Anand said that Bihar is a state with limited resources, yet CM Nitish Kumar provided oxygen cylinders, ventilators, essential medicines to the government hospitals in every city and every village of the state.
"Every patient is getting a bed in the hospitals and state's people have shown their efficiency with an impressive recovery rate of over 90%," Anand said.
"The Bihar government imposed a night curfew and then a lockdown. Lockdown rules were strictly followed by the people and every district focused on three 'Ts'--tracing, testing, treatment. Tests are being done on a large scale in remote areas also. After all this, the cases of Covid-19 started to decrease in Bihar," he said.
"Vaccination campaign is also going on fast in the state and soon the process will be accelerated further. CM Nitish Kumar is working effectively for making Bihar a Covid-19 free state. Opposition parties should also come together and help us to tackle the pandemic," he added.
According to the health department, 5,871 fresh cases of the dreaded coronavirus have been detected, raising the state's tally to 6.76 lakh. Bihar currently has 54,406 active cases, while 6.17 lakh people have recovered so far. The recovery rate now stands at 91.32 per cent.
