Bihar Court grants bail on condition to wash, iron clothes for free

A Bihar court on Tuesday directed a man accused of molestation to wash and iron the clothes of all women in Madhubani village, free of cost for 6 months. The order was passed by the Additional District Judge while granting bail to the molester.

Madhubani (Bihar): Conditions for bail to be granted in India sees several forms. Some of them have to produce a surety, some have to give undertakings, some will be restricted in their movements and some will have to furnish bonds. Any violation of such imposed conditions by the court will see the bail of the person being canceled. For 20-year-old Lalan Kumar Safi of Majhaura village in Madhubani of Bihar, a court in the state has given him bail on a condition of community service.

Safi accused of molestation on Tuesday was directed by a Bihar court to wash and iron the clothes of all women, free of cost for a span of 6 months. The order was passed by Additional District Judge while granting bail to Safi.

Safi is a washerman by profession and has been in jail since April 19, 2021. He was accused of allegedly trying to molest a woman in the Laukaha Bazar area. According to the order of the court, the clothes of all women in the village will have to be washed for free for 6 months by the accused after his release. Also, the court order will be mailed to the head of the panchayat in order to ensure that the accused follows the court's instructions.

According to Laukaha SHO Santosh Kumar Mandal, the incident was reported on the night of April 17. An FIR no. 130/2021 was also registered on April 18 based on the statement of the victim and it was on April 19, that the accused youth was nabbed and sent to jail.
