YSRCP MP supports private member's bill for OBC quota in Parl, Assemblies

YSR Congress Party's MP Vijayasai Reddy moved a private member's bill and raised the issue of providing reservation to Other Backward Classes (OBC) in Lok Sabha and state Assemblies to ensure proportionate representation. Party's Rajya Sabha MP Vijayasai Reddy moved a private member's bill. The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2018 (insertion of new articles 330A and 332A) proposes to ensure a proportionate representation to OBC in representative bodies -- House of the People and the Legislative Assemblies of the State.

Reddy said that the representation to the Other Backward Castes should be given according to the proportion of their population in the country.

He also said that there should be provisions to prevent atrocities against OBCs on the lines of Prevention of atrocities act for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
