Yoga bloggers to get prize of Rs one lakh says, AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik

While talking to ETV Bharat over the phone, Union Minister of State in the Ministry of AYUSH, Shripad Naik said that citizen can post their short video clips performing different Yogasanas. The Minister also informed that the best blogger will be awarded a prize of Rs one lakh.

New Delhi: Every year, June 21 is recognised as International Yoga Day. However, due to the current COVID-19 situation, the AYUSH ministry has adopted the theme set by the United Nations -“Yoga for Health – Yoga at Home”.

To facilitate this, the Ministry of AYUSH is organising a trainer-led session including Yoga guru Swami Ramdev, which will be telecasted on Doordarshan on 21st June at 6:30 AM for people to follow and practice in solidarity. The programme is available on the AYUSH Ministry’s Social Media handles as well. The purpose is to familiarize the public with the Common Yoga Protocol with the help of an audio-visual demonstration of the same through an electronic medium.

Earlier in March, ministry officials had said that Leh will be the venue for the main event for the International Yoga Day on June 21 and Prime Minister Modi will attend it. Later, the venue was shifted to Prime Minister's residence in the wake of coronavirus.

To know more about the event, ETV Bharat has contacted Union Minister of State in the Ministry of AYUSH, Shripad Naik.

He said, "This year, the Ministry has decided to organise a virtual session of Yoga due to Coronavirus pandemic. The Ministry has created a link through which people can connect to the live yoga session."

A video contest (My Life My Yoga Video Blogging Contest) with attractive prizes is also being organised in which the people are being encouraged to post their short video clips performing different Yogasanas. The Minister also informed that the best blogger will be awarded a prize of Rs one lakh.

While informing about the Prime Minister presence during the Yoga session, Naik informed that PM will be live from his official residence.

"A study revealed that the deadly virus attacks those, who have been suffering from an ailment or having a weak immune system. By practising yoga, one can boost their immune strength which will limit the chances of getting infected of the deadly virus", added Naik.
