World needs to shift from fossil fuels to clean energy

The immediate need of the hour is to produce clean fuel that causes no harm to human beings, living things and natural resources besides checking the pollution problem. It is important to tide over this challenge in a decade of time.

Hyderabad: The entire World is moving on fuel which causes pollution. We are giving energy to the world at the cost of our natural resources.

This phenomenon is going on for decades. This is leading to health problems for mankind even as natural resources are getting diminished. Besides, it poses a peril to living things.

Immediate need of the hour is to produce clean fuel that causes no harm to human beings, living things and natural resources besides checking the pollution problem. It is important to tide over this challenge in a decade of time.

At last, we are adding to global warming problems by burning fossil fuels after extracting them from the earth.

In addition to that, we are throwing our tomorrow's future into darkness for today's lights. We are also getting suffocated by being caught in the whirlpool of carbon emissions.

To overcome the problem, environmental experts suggest to use clean fuel that doesn't cause pollution.

A big challenge to the world is to produce large scale pure fuels in a decade of time. How to overcome this problem? What is the danger of coal and petrol fuels?

Even now, fuels produced from coal, petrol, and gas are being extensively used across the world. As a result, a staggering 5500 crore tons of carbon emissions being released.

This is adding to the global warming problem as well as environmental pollution besides showing the following impacts.

  • A rise in 1 degree celsius temperature in the atmosphere will lead to an increase of 10 cm in sea levels.
  • This will lead to rendering as many as 2.1 crore people of creating coastal areas shelterless.
  • It will cause a decrease of 3 per cent wheat and 4 per cent paddy per hectare crop production. Further, it will lead to a food crisis in the future.
  • 5 per cent good bacteria, which helps people retain health, will disappear. If that happens, viral diseases will spread.
  • Drinking water availability will fall from 4 per cent to 9 per cent across the world.


What we can do?

Decreasing fossil fuel production will reduce the pressure on natural resources. There is a need for the government to spend sufficient funds on alternative fuels production through wide-ranging research.

Focus needed on the production of solar and wind powers by offering huge subsidies to those who come forward. The government has to offer necessary encouragement to people who produce power on the rooftops of their residences by setting up solar plates.

The power produced is so useful for domestic needs and surplus power can be transferred to power grids.

Encouraging battery-based vehicles will also reduce environmental pollution.

A step ahead, we can see the following miracles in the future

By 2025, a family of Sunitha-Rajendra living in a gated community at Maheshwaram near Hyderabad will stop buying power and instead produce it through solar plaques on their rooftops. Thus, they will use power for domestic purpose starting from a Bulb up to a car. They will get some cash from the government also for transferring surplus power to the grid.

By 2030, a farmer from Adoni in Kurnool district will leave for Bengaluru to his son. He will carry essential commodities such as rice, dal, vegetables and mainly a 20-kilo watts fully charged battery used through production by wind machines at his farm area. When he returns he will take away the empty battery from his son.

By 2035, all the roads in Metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru will be filled with two and four-wheelers.

However, there will not be any smoke on the roads. People can breathe easily and happily as power-based vehicles replace previous vehicles using fossil fuels.

Solar Power: Australia, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and France are producing more solar power than that of traditional power. The expenditure on solar power was reduced to a huge extent in these countries.

Inspired by this, UNO and the Indian governments have set targets to use solar power by replacing 30 per cent traditional power by 2030 and 50 per cent by 2070.

Wind Power: It is 98 per cent pure and reliable as it costs very less. Except to set up wind machines, there are no maintenance costs for this. As a result, it's establishment capacity is being increased by 3 per cent across the world every year.

In this, India occupies fifth place after China, USA, Germany, and Spain. By 2022, India has set itself a target to produce its share of wind power of 175 gigawatts including -- Solar 100, Wind 60, Biogas 10 and small power units 5 gigawatts respectively.

Hydel Power: Hydel power plays a key role in the reproductive sector. Every year, 2700 Tera Watts of hydel power is being produced across the world. On hydel power, 66 nations are relying up to 50 per cent and 24 countries up to 90 per cent.

In our country, 34 per cent of power needs to be catered through hydel power production every year. As our nation also produces 85000 megawatts power through various reservoirs.

Atomic Energy: Just by using 7000 tons of Uranium, sufficient power can be supplied to all nations for one year. Across the world, 444 reactors are functioning and 66 are under construction level.

In our country, 7 gigawatts power is being produced a year through 22 functioning reactors. A target to increase it to 20 gigawatts was extended from 2020 to 2030.

Nuclear Fusion: Abundant energy gets produced on the Sun through hydrogen fusion. Similarly, experiments are being done on earth to produce this energy and convert it into power.

It is perceived that this experiment will be successful by 2030. Scientists have stated that only 867 tons of hydrogen are required to produce sufficient power to cater to the needs of the entire world for one year.
