Woman keeps fortune teller's corpse without cremating

The woman who lived with the deceased kept his corpse for four days without informing anyone about his demise. However, people who live near the house grew suspicious when a foul smell started emanating from the house.

Chengalpattu (Tamil Nadu): Police have seized a decomposed body of a fortune teller and sent it for post-mortem. The woman who was living with the man had kept the body with her in the house for four days.

Damodaran (62) who hailed from Periapudhur village of Chengalpattu District was a fortune teller. After his wife, Sarada, died Damodaran has been living with his assistant Rajeshwari for the six years.

When her neighbours inquired about Damodaran she said he was out of town. Meanwhile, she sought help from kids in the vicinity to buy food from outside.

However, people who live near the house grew suspicious when a foul smell started emanating from the house. When neighbours forcefully tried to enter the house Rajeshwari attacked with a knife.

Upon entering the house, they noticed worms grazing all over the house and Damodaran's corpse in a decomposed state. The matter was immediately conveyed to the village administration officer.

The Chengalpattu police later seized the body and sent it to Chengalpattu government hospital for post-mortem. Police have filed a case.
