Watch: Indian Army releases archival footage of 'Dutch'

'Dutch', a canine hero who had served the Indian Army for nine years, died on September 11. Dutch was instrumental in identifying Improvised Explosive Devices in various operations.

New Delhi: The Indian Army on Sunday released archival footage of 'Dutch', a 9-year-old dog in West Bengal's Kolkata.

The decorated dog of Army Eastern Command died on September 11. Dutch was instrumental in identifying Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in various operations.

All the officials paid last respects to the dog by garlanding him on Saturday.

Eastern Command Indian Army had tweeted, "Army Eastern Command condoles the death of 'Dutch', a 9 yr old ED dog who died on 11 Sept. He was a decorated dog of Eastern Command who was instrumental in identifying IEDs in various CI/CT Operations. A real hero in service to the nation."

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also condoled the death of Dutch, who had served the Indian Army for nine years, today.

"The Raksha Mantri has expressed his condolences at the death of 'Dutch' a 'Canine Soldier' who recently died after serving the Army and the nation for years. 'Dutch' was a decorated dog of #EasternCommand who was instrumental in identifying IEDs in various CI/CT Ops," tweeted the official Twitter handle of Raksha Mantri Office India.
