Villagers pelted stone on each other over MGNREGA work

A video went viral on social media in which two groups of the same village pelted stone over working under the MNREGA scheme. The dispute grew so much that the stone pelting lasted for 45 minutes. However, no villagers were reported injured in the stone-pelting.

Agra: In a viral video on social media, two groups were seen pelting stones on each other. It was claimed that the incident occurred in Bans Jaukhi Agra's Khandouli police station area over working under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). However, no villagers were reported injured in the stone-pelting.

Work was assigned to MNREGA cardholders by the village head Hemlata Chauhan in Bas Rishal village under the MNREGA scheme. On Thursday morning, the MGNREGA cardholders from Bas Jokhi reached Bas Risal and protested against the workers who do not have a card to work under the scheme. There was a heated argument between both the group after which they started pelting stones on each other for around 45 minutes.

However, no villagers were reported injured in the stone-pelting.

Police reached the spot after getting the information and arrested 2 people from the spot while others managed to escape.

One of the villagers said that some people had come without MNREGA card to work for MNREGA work going on in the Bas Rishal village of Gram Panchayat. They were opposed by the villagers of Bas Jokhi after which the work was stopped. On their way back to the village, there was a fight between the two sides followed by stone-pelting.

Station Head of Khandouli, Bahadur Singh said that two youths have been arrested. People are being identified based on video footage. The case will be registered in the relevant sections.
