Tamil Nadu: In a video that has gone viral across social media platforms, a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus can be seen plying on the Pollachi-Palladam road with only two wheels instead of the usual four wheels.
Amused by the unusual sight, passersby captured the bus on camera and posted it on their different social media platforms.
Although the bus wasn't carrying passengers, the fact that it was operating without the sufficient number of wheels required to support the vehicle raised safety concerns as well.
After stumbling upon the video, a senior official from the state transport department clarified that the bus had only a driver and a conductor and was heading towards an idle yard in Mettupalayam.
Idle yards, also known as condemnation yards, are places where old buses that are in use for more than seven years or have run more than eight lakh kilometres are disposed of, he said.
He further assured that the driver would not have started the vehicle had there been any passenger.

The wheels and other parts such as the gearbox and engine are taken out of the old vehicles, reconditioned and used as spare parts for new vehicles, according to the official.
