Chennai: Cyber Crime wing on Friday registered a case against Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) founder and Lok Sabha MP Thol Thirumavalavan on charges of insulting women in a video which is being widely shared on social media platforms.
Thol. Thirumavalavan had recently participated in a seminar arranged by a YouTube channel in which he spoke at length criticising 'Manusmriti' and the social status women guaranteed under the same.
Just as the speech went viral on social media, former BJP national secretary H Raja, in his social media page, has posted a clip of Thirumavalavan's speech and sought action against the latter.
Raja has lambasted Thirumavalavan of insulting the Hindu sentiments and women from their faith. Newly inducted BJP leader Khusboo Sundar also came down heavily on the MP and asked him to be cautious of what he speaks as a political leader.
"He is a political leader and should be aware of what he is saying..women cannot be objectified... you should apologise," she said. She pointed out there were women in his family too," she said.

Several complaints against the leader started pouring in following which the Central Crime Branch CCB of the City Police necessitated action against the Lok Sabha MP.
The parliamentarian has been charged with rioting, inciting communal violence and similar other charges. The BJP members have condemned his statement and have been lodging complaints against the MP at various police stations in the city.
Responding to the criticism, Thirumavalavan posted a video on his Twitter page, stating that he said that Manusmriti demeans women and that those with an eye on political mileage, a casteist-communal group was spreading falsehood against him and creating an impression as if he spoke against women.
"This is totally wrong. We are struggling for women's emancipation. Those who could not stomach it are doing such things to create a flutter in the DMK alliance," he said.
Incidentally, the VCK has announced state-wide protests against Manusmriti in Tamil Nadu on Saturday.
