Jaunpur: At least over a dozen people were detained after two groups resorted to stone pelting over a land dispute in Jaunpur, a police official said on Friday. The clash broke out between two groups belonging to Sonari and Amra village in which six people were injured following which police personnel rushed to the spot to pacify the situation.
According to the police, the groups were at loggerheads over sharing of the land for past several years. The groups got into a heated argument on Friday which took a serious turn and people were attacked with stones and bricks.
"The incident happened when one group from Amar village was heading towards Sonari village and a scuffle broke out. Our officers swung into action as soon as the incident came to light. It took us tremendous efforts to bring the situation to normalcy. We have detained at least six people in this connection and a case has been registered," the cop added.
