Jamtara: A technical research team from the United States of America (USA) will undertake massive research in Jharkhand's Jamtara which has emerged as a new epicentre of cyber crimes in India. The decision was taken after senior police officers chaired a high-level meeting to discuss the preventive measures taken by the administration to curb the cyber crimes in Jamtara.

According to reports, the team of experts along with the Jamtara administration will handle the issue of rising cybercrimes in the village.

Media reports suggest that more than half of India's cyber crimes, especially phishing, are being committed by groups of well-read, sharp school dropouts in Jamtara.

Despite the state government and the administration taking ample steps to stop the cybercrime, there has been no fruitful result, prompting authorities to rope in a team of technical researchers and experts from USA to tackle the issue.

More than half of India's cyber crimes, mostly committed by fraudsters posing as bank managers, were traced back to this small town. This place has become digital India's underbelly.

The region is known for petty criminals and thugs and their modus operandi was drugging train passengers, looting them, stealing coal, other minerals, because the area is mineral-rich. From common people to big politicians and dignitaries, everyone has been targeted by the young fraudsters.

The technical team has been called in as the arena of cyber crimes is on rise in Jamtara and the cybercriminals have changed their modus operandi. Officials said that with people using more of digital space to do transactions, buying groceries or books or for social interaction, Jamtara has become the new hub of cybercrimes.
