US has waged war against anything progressive, says Cuban MP Fernando Gonzalez

Cuban Minister Fernando Gonzalez accused the US of hindering the development of Cuban economy. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, he said that they would do everything that they could, to develop a prosperous economy.

New Delhi: On the 60th anniversary of the Cuban revolution, Fernando Gonzalez Llort, who had spent 17 years in the US prison on charges of espionage and is currently a legislator in Cuba's parliament, fired at Trump administration's South American policies.

Fernando Gonzalez claimed that the United States government has waged a war against anything which is progressive, nationalist and socialist.

"The US is trying to make sure that the Cuban economy doesn't develop. We are going to do anything which is in our hands to keep going on," said Cuban MP.

On India's role, he said, "No other country should tell India or any other country that they should not do something which they want to do. There is a whole lot of possibilities to do business with Latin American countries."

Apart from members of the National Committee for Solidarity with Cuba and All India Peace and Solidarity Organisation, ambassadors of other countries were also present at the event.

Aleida Guevara, daughter of Ernesto Che Guevara, sang songs of the Cuban Revolution along with others.

Ambassador of Venezuela, Coromoto Godoy called this not only a celebration for Cuba, but for her country as well. She hailed Fernando for making people realise the importance of Venezuela as well.
