Dadri (Uttar Pradesh): A woman from Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddha Nagar district on Saturday was beaten up and then divorced by her husband when she asked for ₹30 for grocery shopping.
Zainab, a mother of three, was brutally thrashed by her husband Sabir for demanding money to buy vegetables. She was even threatened of being subjected to electrocution by her husband. She was divorced by her husband by pronouncing 'talaq' three times as per the Quran.
Badly injured, Zainab called her father, who rushed to her house and decided to take her to the hospital, which is when Sabir uttered 'talaq' three times.
"He beat me up when I asked for Rs. 30 to get some vegetables. He also threatened me with electrocution," said Zainab.
Zainab further accused Sabir and her family of torturing and abusing her over dowry after a few months into the marriage. She also alleged that her husband was having an extra-marital affair with his sister-in-law.
"Sabir and his family started demanding dowry after a few months into the marriage and would beat me up for not meeting their demands. He was also allegedly having an extra-marital affair with his sister-in-law, " said Zainab.
Zainab and his family filed an FIR against Sabir in Dadri police station.
