New Delhi: Soon after the Yogi-Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh Government filed an affidavit in Supreme Court over Hathras case, Congress party called it a "blatant lie" of BJP Government, an attempt to "cover-up" their own actions.

In an affidavit, UP Government has stated that the victim's body was cremated following all rituals and customs after convincing her family at night, in the wake of "extraordinary and severe" circumstances of potential law and order threat.

While addressing a press conference, All India Mahila Congress Chief, Sushmita Dev said, "The aim of UP Government's affidavit is to lie to the country that no rape was being done there. UP Government is claiming that the girl was cremated in front of her family and all the last rituals were performed, which is a blatant lie. It would amount to contempt of court against the Government official who has filed this affidavit."

Congress leader Rajni Patil said, "The entire administration is standing with the culprits rather than the victim. This proofs of Yogi Adityanath's 'Ravan Raj' in UP. This shows the real face of BJP and RSS. That is the only reason why Kuldeep Singh Sengar and Chinmayanand are among the top leaders of BJP."

The affidavit of UP Government also claimed that political parties and a section of media were allegedly trying to give a communal colour to the rape incident. The affidavit also quoted a report issued by Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, which claimed that the victim was not raped but died due to "injury to the cervical spine".

Sushmita Dev further added, "The girl herself admitted in her dying declaration that she was gang-raped and now the Government is claiming that no rape was being done. We condemn it. It is a shocking day for every citizen of this country. This affidavit is nothing but the culmination of a cover-up that began on 14th September."

She demanded, "Yogi Government has been indulging in a cover-up since day one and has no right to continue in office. He as well as Hathras District Magistrate should be dismissed with immediate effect. If Prime Minister Modi does not dismiss him then he himself is complicit, key conspirator and the mastermind behind Hathras case which has unleased more crimes against women and he is guilty of encouraging such atrocious behaviour."

Launching another attack on the UP Government, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said, "UP Government has reached the Supreme Court over this matter but still no notification has been released for CBI enquiry. The kind of conspiracy being planned by UP Government's administrative officials for victim shaming is highly condemnable." She also cited the amendments brought to the rape laws by UPA government, mentioning that the presence of semen or penetration is not necessary now and even an attempt is considered as rape.

Supriya Shrinate slammed the UP Government by calling it an "international conspiracy", alleging that certain parts of the affidavit have been copied from the affidavit of New York Police department during 'black lives matter' protests. "It is happening as the entire media and opposition is asking questions and the government is talking of a cover-up and international conspiracy. Stop those FIRs based on these concoctions," she added.
