Mathura (Uttar Pradesh): To induce a prolonged slumber among its inmates, a 'creche' has been allegedly feeding the children with intoxicants!
The incident, which was reported from Mathura's Shishu Sadan, was unravelled by a team of officials from the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
The four-member team inspected the creche only to find the children sleeping, who in turn remained unresponsive to their (officials) calls.
"We tried to wake up the children during the inspection, but they remained unresponsive. We suspect that the management must have given them some intoxicants to make them sleep for hours, at a stretch. This entire incident is under investigation and only after a detailed probe we will be able to ascertain the kind of substance used as intoxicants," maintained Dr Neeta Sahu, one of the members.
The officials further opined that the creche management must have resorted to the extreme step to keep the complaints down. They further stated that, earlier, two children had died at the facility due the negligence of the management. Several children are regularly reported ill from the creche, they observed.
