TN CM Palaniswami, DMK chief Stalin condole Angadi's death

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, DMK president M K Stalin on Thursday condoled the death of Minister of State for Railways, Suresh Angadi.

Palaniswami said he was shocked to hear the sad and untimely demise of Angadi and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family members.

Panneerselvam said he was saddened and shocked and prayed for Angadi's soul to rest in peace and added: "may the Almighty give strength to his family to overcome this irreplaceable loss."

Stalin, stating that he was deeply saddened to learn of Angadi's demise, conveyed his condolences to the family and loved ones.

BJP national secretary H Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi were among others who condoled the death of Angadi.

Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi, who died due to COVID-19 at the AIIMS in New Delhi on Wednesday, was a four-time Member of Parliament from Belagavi (Karnataka)

consecutively since 2004.

The 65-year old, survived by his wife and two daughters, was associated with the RSS from a young age.

The minister was instrumental in making the suburban railway project in Bengaluru a reality, which was a long pending demand of the people

Karnataka cancels all programs as mark of tribute to Angadi

Following the sad demise of Union Minister of state for Railways Suresh Angadi, Karnataka on Thursday decided to fly the flag half-mast on all government buildings as a mark of tribute.

According to the government notification, the state has also cancelled all official engagements and cultural programmes too as a mark of respect.

The ongoing Monsoon session will also pass a condolence resolution after leaders pay tribute, and the House is likely to get adjourned for the day thereafter.

Cremation of Union Minister Suresh Angadi to be held in Delhi as per COVID-19 protocols

Belagavi (Karnataka): The cremation of Suresh Angadi, Union minister of state for Railways will be held in the national capital today. Since he died of COVID-19, the cremation will be held as per protocol.

The cremation will be held at Dwarka sector No 24 as the body was not allowed to be flown to Belagavi.

Karnataka Industries Minister Jagadish Shelter, the relative of Angadi, is already present in Delhi.

Angadi's elder daughter Sphurti, who lives in Belagavi, will also fly to New Delhi. The funeral will take place only after she reaches Delhi.

Suresh Angadi passed away on Wednesday at around 8 pm at the AIIMS trauma centre, days after he tested positive for COVID-19. Angadi is the first Central minister to die of the virus.
