Union Min Sadananda Gowda urges people need not panic about coronavirus

In the wake of Coronavirus outbreak, Union Minister DV Sadananda Gowda requested people need not to panic as the Government has enough of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients. He further said the Union Government is very serious about containing the Coronavirus.

New Delhi: In the wake of Coronavirus breakout, Union Chemical and Fertilizers Minister DV Sadananda Gowda on Friday said that the Indian Government has enough stock of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) and people need not worry about the treatments.

According to the Union Minister, China is the major exporter of API and it has stopped the export after the outbreak of Coronavirus.

"However, India has enough stock of API and which could be handled for the next three months. So, I appeal to people to not worry about treatment and medicines," Sadananda Gowda said.

He further said the Central government is very serious about containing the Coronavirus.

"The PM has been conducting regular review meetings with officials to know the steps taken by the government to thrash out Coronavirus," he added.

The Union Minister further said that people could lodge a complaint if anyone is selling masks and hand sanitizers for higher prices.

"We have been hearing that people sell masks and hand sanitizers for higher prices. Public can lodge a complaint with the Drugs Regulatory committee," Gowda urged people.

Gowda informed to the media that the Prime Minister will interact with the people of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana Kendra (PMBJP).

PMBJP is a campaign launched by the Central government's Department of Pharmaceuticals to provide quality medicines at affordable prices to the masses through special kendras.

"The PM will interact with seven Kendras including Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore and Pulwama," Gowda said.

The former Karnataka CM pointed out that Karnataka itself has 622 PMBJP Kendra's.

"We have two warehouses of PMBJP in Bengaluru, and Mysore of Karnataka. Also, one warehouse is functioning there at Tiruvallur near Chennai," he said.
